York Lodge is a family-run independent residential care home and day care centre in Urmston which can accommodate up to twenty-two people.

We opened in 1986, and have been at the heart of the Urmston community in the Trafford area ever since. We converted and refurbished the care home ourselves specifically to provide the highest standards of residential care. We are not part of a large, impersonal organisation, and so you can be assured of the family’s personal attention and care on a daily basis.

Our aim has always been to meet the needs of the older residents of our diverse community in Trafford, and to assist them to continue living as independently as possible. We have an inclusive philosophy and value each and every person who comes to live with us at York Lodge.

York Lodge care home in Urmston – part of the local community

We benefit greatly from being active in our local community. We have strong links with several local schools, whose younger pupils visit us to sing and perform, with older students joining us during their ‘work experience’ fortnight. We receive weekly visits from several members of the local religious community, including Christian and Catholic priests, and residents are free to meet with these visitors or not, as they wish. We are part of the Vibrant Voices choir based at The Cinnamon Club in Altrincham; we practice each week and give public performances for special occasions such as Christmas Concerts and local events. We attend the Alzheimer’s Society’s ‘Singing for the Brain’ session twice weekly, for those who wish to participate. If you are already a member of a local group or attend a place of worship, we will ensure you are able to maintain these links when you move in with us. On a less formal basis, we are often to be found out and about in Urmston, shopping, browsing the market stalls or having a coffee and a natter in our local Costa.
