Beautiful Victorian care home
York Lodge offers excellent care home facilities in a beautiful detached Victorian house set within its own mature gardens. We are conveniently situated in the heart of the Urmston community, on the periphery of the town centre on a lovely tree-lined road in the Trafford area of South Manchester. There are three parks within a two-minute stroll, and we are close to the town library, shops, cafes, GP surgeries and many other amenities. We are a short drive away from the Trafford Centre.
Your home
Our stunning retirement home provides all the space, comfort, style and character you would expect from a large property of this period. There are twenty comfortable rooms, each well-appointed and spacious and with its own en-suite facilities. Each room has its own telephone point, television aerial point, wireless internet access and nurse call system. Incoming personal calls can be directed to individual rooms if you wish. York Lodge is your home from home, and we encourage you to personalise your room by bringing your possessions or furniture, to help make you more comfortable and your surroundings seem more familiar. We can offer double rooms for couples or individuals wishing to share.
Other facilities
We have retained all the fine Victorian splendour and period features throughout York Lodge retirement home, including in the communal and recreational areas. Our care home facilities go on to include a dining room, television room, three sitting rooms and a beautiful sunny conservatory / sun-lounge running the entire length of the house. Our communal areas are divided into zones, i.e. a quiet zone (for reading etc.), a chat zone (for meeting and talking to people) and a listening and viewing zone (for television viewing and listening to music). This provides choice and reflects residents’ interests. You may be interested to know that recreational areas at your disposal amount to two and a half times the prescribed minimum communal space for residential care homes. We have a passenger lift to all floors.
We have a lovely piano which you are welcome to play. We also have a computer available for residents’ use which includes internet, email and the very popular Skype facility, allowing you to talk face to face with loved ones, wherever they may be.
Your safety, comfort and convenience
We have a secure biometric entry system, which safeguards our residents whilst allowing those with the capacity for independent living the freedom to come and go as they wish. The system also allows unrestricted access to authorised family members, so visits can be made at any time.
We have a mini bus available for easy transport for trips and outings.
Our OTEX laundry system is ‘state of the art’, and is highly regarded by the Care Quality Commission. We invested in this equipment to ensure the highest possible standards of hygiene, as the system eliminates all strains of bacterial infection, including even MRSA and clostridium difficile.
